About the Author
Meet Lorrie
Lorrie Orr is a writer, mother, and keen observer of the quiet beauty found in the margins of
everyday life. In 2004, she traded the familiar for the unknown, moving to Ecuador where she
would spend the next two decades navigating the vibrant complexities of South American life.
From the humid expanses of the jungle to the high-altitude air of the Andes, Lorrie’s writing is
deeply shaped by the landscapes she has called home and the three children she raised within
them.
Her work explores the intersection of faith, art, and the concept of "home," often reflecting on
how displacement can lead to a deeper understanding of the soul. With a background that values
both the aesthetic and the spiritual, she writes with a "wide" lens, capturing everything from
the mundane challenges of big-city living to the profound spiritual reflections found in a
tropical landscape.
When she isn’t writing, Lorrie is a lover of community traditions, a student of local beauty, and
a firm believer that life’s richness is measured by its depth rather than its length. She
currently shares her reflections through her series, Life is Short but Wide, documenting a
journey that spans over twenty-one years of adventure and grace.
